DHS CIE Training Reviews: Partners with Business

In DHS CIE Review by Theresa Kulow

The Partners with Business Training provides an overview of a unique employment service model and statewide initiative designed to enhance workplace inclusion for individuals with disabilities. The module introduces the Partners with Business model, where coworkers provide formal on-the-job support instead of job coaches, fostering direct relationships, inclusivity, and cost-effective support. Participants learn about the model's benefits, such as reduced stigma and enhanced natural workplace interactions, alongside the considerations and best practices necessary for successful implementation.

The training highlights the Wisconsin Partners with Business initiative, its legislative backing, and its focus on building employer capacity to hire and support workers with disabilities through evidence-based strategies. Practical examples illustrate the model’s impact, showcasing how it promotes independence, optimizes resources, and enhances long-term support sustainability.
