Training Details
This training is designed to help you better understand the role of Work Incentive Benefits Specialists and how to support informed decision-making around employment. You'll gain practical knowledge and strategies to talk about work and benefits confidently, address common fears, and connect people to resources that support both employment and financial stability.
Cost: Free. Registration is Required
Training Prerequisite: Before attending one of the training sessions, participants must complete the free online training, The Impact of Work on Benefits. The live Benefits and Work Demystified training will build on and expand the key topics covered in this prerequisite. Completion of the recorded prerequisite training is required prior to the live session, and ERI reserves the right to cancel your registration if this requirement is not met.
Who Is This Training For: This training is intended for Wisconsin-based professionals who refer individuals to Work Incentive Benefits Specialists, including employment service providers, care coordinators, IRIS consultants, counselors, case coordinators, and school partners.
Time: Approximately 2 Hours.

Experienced trainer and consultant in advancing employment for people with disabilities including an emphasis on Work Incentives Benefits Counseling and helping individuals and professionals navigate the connection between work and benefits.Danielle Maurer
15+ years of helping people with disabilities reach their employment goals. Currently a Work Incentives Benefits Counselor with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) and the Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) program. Dedicated to delivering individualized services that promote informed employment choices.

- Recognize when and how to make referrals to Work Incentive Benefits Specialists.
- Feel more confident supporting individuals as they explore work options.
- Help the people you serve understand their choices and make informed decisions about working while receiving benefits.

- Table kits with case studies, myth cards, and referral scenarios.
