In 2023 more than 500 pieces of anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation were introduced in state legislatures across the United States with 2024 already shaping up to be another difficult year. Given these continued legislative attacks, it is more important than ever for us to create welcoming and affirming spaces within our practices and organizations.

This session opens with a brief review of the most common, contemporary LGBTQ+ identity-based language before it jumps into important considerations for working with LGBTQ+ populations along with recommendations of concrete strategies to address those considerations. We will conclude with a half-hour Q&A session for participants to ask their questions, in real time, about supporting LGBTQ+ individuals accessing their services.
