DHS CIE Training Reviews: Wisconsin State SSI Supplements

In DHS CIE Review by Theresa Kulow

Supplemental Security Income (or SSI) is a monthly cash benefit paid by the federal Social Security Administration to people in financial need who are 65 years old or older or people of any age who are blind or disabled. Wisconsin is one of several states that supplements the federal SSI benefits. People can receive the state SSI supplement payment only if they qualify for a federal SSI payment. One exception is a small group of grandfathered SSI members who still receive the state SSI payment they qualified for in December of 1995.
